Last night was our first homestudy visit for the adoption of number 2. It was rather uneventful and wasn't nearly as nervewracking as our very first homestudy for Sophie! The same social worker, Amy, conducted this set of interviews and really, it was just like sitting down to talk with an old friend. We basically just had to update the changes to our family since Sophie's adoption application and answer questions relating to how we have adjusted to being parents. Easy.
We need one more homestudy visit with Amy, which will most likely take place in about 2 weeks. She needs to "interview" us separately to fill in any gaps in the homestudy report. We will post when we know when that second visit will take place.
Sophie really enjoyed playing with Amy, but seemed to act out after she left. Maybe she gets the sense that something's up...change is a-coming!
Every step in this process is just one more step towards our next miracle.
(Oh, and we just have to throw this in...Rock Chalk Jayhawk!)

Happy Spring!
We hope you all had a nice Easter holiday! Steve's mom and sister, Katie were in town for the week and we had lots of fun enjoying some more seasonal, springtime weather. Sophie had her first Easter egg hunt and visit with the Easter bunny...Easter dinner was at our house with Kristen's family as well as the McFarren representatives...we went to the zoo...we visited the Bodies Revealed exhibit at Union Station and ate lunch at good ol' Fritz's!
Tomorrow is our first homestudy visit, so send positive energy out into the universe for us - we'll let you know how it goes!

Homestudy visit #1 is set!
I got an unexpected and cheerful call from our social worker that we can go ahead and schedule our homestudy visits! She is the same lady who helped us adopt Sophie and she assured me that this time around will be super-easy, since we've done this once before. She also seemed genuinely excited that we had decided to adopt again. Her enthusiasm makes me smile!
So, because of spring breaks, Easter and a visit from Steve's mom and sister, we will have our first homestudy visit in a couple of weeks. March 28th to be exact. This is just another example of how quickly the process is moving along for us...last time it seemed that we waited a whole month after payment to our agency to even HEAR from our social worker. This time around, we haven't even sent our big check to the agency yet. I guess that they have just grown to know and trust us!
We are so happy to continue on this journey...thanks for joining us! Now, I gotta get that check in the mail...
